This company embraces eco-friendly materials while breaking down barriers between race, gender, and equity – and strives to bring running to all people through its shoe selection.
Mild stability for those who slightly overpronate. Equipped with CenterPath technology and Pwrrun foam.
Endorphin Elite 2
Saucony first made their mark as a racing super shoe provider with their original Vaporfly model, and it appears their Elite 2 will follow in that path. These shoes are designed for runners who seek cushioned long distance racers.
Saucony’s latest Super Foam IncrediRUN (which we all find distasteful, let’s be honest). This co-polyester elastomer features incredible soft touch sensation and instant rebound when loaded, creating a very responsive ride compared to Endorphin Elite 1’s PWRRUN HG foam which had more subtle deformation; IncrediRUN provides much more dramatic deformation which propels you forward with every step.
As well as boasting incredible energy return, this version features 9 percent more TPEE-based foam. Furthermore, the same dual-foam midsole from previous models remains intact, featuring PEBA-based Pwrrun PB and IncrediRUN to deliver propulsion and stability in combination.
Our lab tests showed that this shoe performs admirably on both dry and wet surfaces, offering plenty of grip in its forefoot area. In addition, its heel features a small strip of lime-colored rubber with horizontal slits designed to add flexibility.
Endorphin Pro 5
Recent changes to Saucony’s Endorphin Pro racing shoe made it one of their best value options, providing snappy racing performance over various distances from 5Ks to marathons. Now updated, with IncrediRun foam that provides cushioned cushioning but packs energy return. Still true to length but slightly less snug in the toe box than its predecessor model.
The rest of the shoe has not changed significantly; it features a dual-density midsole constructed with PEBA-based Pwrrun PB foam and a carbon plate, featuring stiffer materials than some competitors for better control during longer runs and races.
However, this model stands out by offering 9 percent more foam cushioning. While this may seem counterintuitive in a high-end racing shoe, additional cushioning helps make these shoes feel more responsive and comfortable on long runs.
The shoe’s unique upper design adds another unique feature. Instead of featuring traditional gussets, this model utilizes elastic mesh that wraps around your foot to securely lock it in place while providing breathability and flexibility without compromising stability or fit.
Triumph 23
Designed to keep runners smooth, supported, and confident mile after mile, the Triumph 23 offers an outstanding combination of lightweight design with exceptional comfort for easy runs, recovery miles, or long training runs. It makes running easier!
Saucony has introduced their PWRRUN PB foam which offers soft yet responsive cushioning, featuring in their Endorphin Elite 2 and Pro 4 competition shoes. This upgrade marks an enormous advancement for these shoes.
Apart from its new midsole, the shoe feels lighter and nimbler overall than the 22. This can be attributed to a newly designed carbon rubber outsole which offers increased midfoot flexibility.
Recent running shoe trends have favored lower heel-to-forefoot drops and higher stack heights that encourage natural midfoot landing and faster cadence. The Triumph 23 remains more traditional in this regard, without featuring rocker midsole rockers, making it an excellent option for runners seeking more natural feel shoes.
The newly designed upper is both comfortable and deep enough to accommodate most running orthotics, providing optimal fitting. I haven’t encountered any issues with it fitting a variety of foot shapes and sizes without issue.
Ride 19
Saucony’s flagship neutral daily training shoe, the Ride 19, receives significant upgrades that enhance its character without altering its identity. Softer PWRRUN+ foam provides optimal cushioning and responsiveness during easy runs, making your runs feel natural and effortless.
The Ride 19’s wide platform and distinct rocker make it a suitable option for moderate to overpronators looking for a stable running experience that doesn’t feel slow or heavy. While other neutral shoes may not last as long, the Ride 19 has proven reliable with most runners.
The Ride 19’s engineered mesh upper is exceptional; it provides breathability and comfort with just the right stretch to accommodate different foot shapes. Unfortunately, its larger openings may prove problematic for runners who enjoy mixed surface runs as this allows dirt or small rocks to enter the mesh through tiny openings in the upper. However, its extra padding in the heel area provides plushness without tipping into bulky territory – thus earning it an impressive 3/5 durability rating from our durability testing process.
The new lug pattern offers decent traction on most running surfaces, although wet or painted surfaces don’t fare quite as well – this being only a minor drawback in a shoe designed primarily to run on pavement.
